Ringing in the New Year with Fun Activities for K-3 Students!

Bring on 2024!

The New Year is an exciting time for both reflection and celebration! As K-3 teachers, you have the opportunity to create this festive spirit into your classroom.

Here are five of my resources that incorporate the celebration of the New Year with learning across various subjects.

Welcome the New Year with creative writing adventures for your kindergarten, first grade, and second grade classrooms! Whether it's drawing and dictating stories or practicing early sentence structures, this resource offers diverse activities that cultivate reflection on past experiences and goal setting for the future.

Welcome your students back with these editable postcards! Since the cards are editable, you can add each child's name to make it more personal if you prefer. Attach a pencil and place the card on each child's desk.

Start 2024 with a hundreds board math activity! Students will use place value to color the mystery picture. Imagine their surprise and delight when they discover the hidden “2024”! This activity is a great way to work on those place value skills.

Students will multiply, divide, add, or subtract to color the mystery picture. Imagine their surprise and delight when they discover the hidden “2024”!

Ring in the New Year with this resource designed for third and fourth grade classrooms! Engage your students with 5 diverse activities!

  • New Year Multiplication Bump (Color version, Black/White version)
  • Create a Word: Students cut apart the letters that spell out “Happy New Year.” They manipulate the letters to create as many words as possible.
  • Postcard: Place a card on each student's desk.
  • Search a word puzzle: Students look for 18 words that relate to the New Year.
  • Math Sort: Solve the problems at the bottom, cut out the equations, and glue equations to the correct side. A blank recording sheet for future years.
